THE PROJECT

The New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) Thermal Dryer Project is a major wastewater infrastructure upgrade at the New Plymouth Wastewater Treatment Plant. Street & Cook Construction was engaged to construct the main building enclosure, working alongside Downer Energy & Utilities. The scope included reinforced concrete, precast concrete, structural steel, insulated sandwich panel cladding, and construction around elevated process silos.

Completed in 2025, the New Plymouth District Council Thermal Dryer Project replaces ageing infrastructure and increases sludge processing capacity. It supports the long-term resilience of New Plymouth’s wastewater network and highlights Street & Cook Construction’s expertise in delivering complex industrial and municipal infrastructure within an operational treatment environment.
